Family based GC

Hi

My employer currently sponsoring my GC it is currently in labor stage. May be end of year 2012 to go to 140 stage.

Mean while my sister got her US citizenship and my parents are here after she processed their green cards.

Is it possible to get the family based GC started while my employment GC is being processed, is it a good idea. What are the typical costs involved in doing so? And how many yrs it typically takes in this type of family based GC?
