L1 to H1 Conversion and Entry in US

Hi

I am on L1 B and currently in India.

My company wants to file a L1 to H1 premium conversion case for me this year.

I am supposed to travel back to USA next month.

The question is - If my H1 conversion gets approved, will I be able to travel to USA on my current L1 status next month i.e. June or I have to wait till October??

will H1 status be applicable after 1st October or will it be effective immediately after H1 conversion approval?

If you have a valid L1 petition and Visa, you can travel and work in L1 status. If H1 petition was filed while you are outside the US, it will not include change of status. It will just be an H1 petition like any other. Your status will be H1 only when your I-94 says H1.
