H1B Transfer after reciept

Hello,

I have just joined my company and got only the H1B receipt. I am still waiting on the rest of the process to complete.

However, I want to change my company now. Am I legally allowed to retransfer my H1B before the rest of the process completes ?

Any advice would be really helpful.

Yes, you can. Use this receipt and proof of last status for new H1b application. This will make sure you were in valid status for last 2-3 months while H1b filing.

Technically yes, you can join your new employer based on the receipt. But the risk is that if new employer's petition is denied, and if old employer has revoked their petition (will not take you back), you will be left out of status and you will have to leave the US immediately.

Go with PP and don’t leave the present employment until next H1b is approved.
