H1 extension -Passport is going to expire

My H1 is going to expire on July 01 2012

My Passport is valid Until Aug 27^th 2012, I applied for new passport on May 1^st 2012..status still it is in process (I applied to Newyork location by post)

I-94 and I-797 valid up to July 2012

Visa is also valid up to July 1^st 2012

New passport is mandatory for me to apply for visa extension? I don’t have time for my extension

I will apply Premium processing only but can I apply with my old passport still it is valid up to 27^th Aug 2012

Or I need to wait until my new passport( I don’t know how many days it will take to get my new passport ,almost 2 weeks completed still it is in processing)

This week I want to process my visa extension

Please guide me how to do the H1 extension
