H1-B transfer & I140 portability

Hi,

Current scenario:- My H1B is getting expired in 2 months. However, my I-140 is approved so i can get 3 yrs extension based on it.

ISSUE:- My I-140 got approved in december,2011 and is NOT 6 month old yet.

I have an offer from a new employer, Can Transfer my H1b and port the GC date? I was told by people that you need to wait 6 months after I-140 is approved to switch. Is this true?
