Completed 6 years of H1B - Need clarification on converting to B2

My H1B period is about to complete by end of May'2012 after recapturing all out of country period and my PERM is

still in process which was filed in Nov'2011. Now I'm planning to convert to B2. Can anyone pls guide me how

to apply for change of status and also all pros and cons to convert my visa status to B2 and again back to H1B after PERM and I-140 is approved.

Thanks for your response. If I change back to H1B after PERM and I-140 approved, can I go for my H1B visa in Canada or Mexico else do I need to go to home country for getting visa? Also, while converting back to H1B will it be smooth provided I have a project in hand at that time?
