H1B Extension(Transfer) Stamping in Melbourne Australia

Hi All,

I need some help/guidance for my upcoming H1B extension (transfer) stamping in Melbourne Australia.

I am currently residing in Melbourne, Australia on a Spuose visa (my spouse is an Australian citizen). I was previously in USA on H1B working at one of the major MN comapny. I have also done my MS from USA.

Being an Indian citizen have done my F1 & H1B stamping in Mumbai previuosly without any issue/s.

Now my previuos employer in USA who also has sponsered my previous H1B is filing for my H1B extension. Since this is a direct hire and not through any consulatant, would it be safe if I apply for my H1B stamping from Melbourne? or I should do it from India? (Since my spouse is an Australian citizen and we are not applying for H4 visa along with my H1B stamping I have a strong ground of our stability in Australia.)

Note: There is a possiblity that my spouse would join me in USA but not as my dependent i.e. on H4.

Please advise me of any concerns if you see in this case or any precaution I should take in this case. My employer is very well known so I don't see any problem from that aspect but my only concern is where should I do my H1B stamping, Melbourne or India?

Can you please provide an update on your case? Did you go to Melbourne for your stamping? If yes, can you please share your experience at the consulate since my wife is also going there for H-4 visa stamping.
