h1b transfer and work permit validity

Hi Friends,

My H1B work permit is valid till 2014 september. What would be the work permit validity if i transfer my H1B to another employer? My question is whether validity of my workpermit remains the same or it will change with transfer? Please advise me.

It will change with the transfer. Generally, in case of consulting work you will get 1 years of work permit validity and in case of FT position you will get 3 years from the date of new H1b approval date.

@wiweq, Partially true. It depends on how many years remaining in 6 years + what is the length of the project contract submitted. If contract mentioned 3 years then even with consulting you'll get 3 years.
