L1A to H1B - If H1B rejected

Hi,

I am planning to apply for H1B visa through Company B but I have L1A with Company A and valid till next year July 2013. For some reason, if my H1 gets rejected.

1. Can I continue to work in L1A

2. If H1B is approved, then should I have to start from Oct 01st 2012 or can it be delayed.
