mihirkanojia
Hi All, My L1-B expires on 26th Oct, 2012. I want to change it to H1. My employer does not have any knowledge on H1-B filing. Can some one please let me know whether my company needs to file for Change of Status or file for a new H1 B ? Thank you Mihir Link to comment

wiweq
You are on L1 and going on H1b. I think it’s a change of status and needs to file COS. Ask your employer to hire attorney or leave the H1b ignorant employer. Link to comment
JoeF
It is always a new H1. COS is just a checkbox on the form. If you are in the US, you generally want to do COS. The employer should consult with an immigration lawyer to avoid any problems. Link to comment
