H1 B renewal in Mexico Tijuana ( please share your experiences)

Hi I have to renew my H1B stamp in Mexico tijuana.

My previus H1 B has been stamped in New delhi India ( two times). I am renewing with the same employer.

Can anyone share there experneices with H1 B renewal at Tijuana?

I have few questions :

1) How much time does it take for renewal?

2) I have Applicant Service Center (ASC) appointment on 2nd May 2012.

3) My interview with Consulate General is on 3rd May 2012

After ASC can I return back to San Diego, US & return back to mexico for consulate general appointment the next day, or do I need to stay in Mexico. My current H1 stamp is valid till 7th june.

In worst case, if my visa is denied for some reason, can I still use my current H1B stamp to return back to us?

Hi Deepak

Why do you want to go back and come back again on Next day? I would advise you to stay for the night in Tijuana and return after receiving the passport. The immigration process to come back to US is a big pain. I waited almost 6 hours in the line in the immigration line while coming back.

Thanks KishanKakarla.. I read your post.. it gives me lot of confidence. I read lot of posts of people getting 221G. not sure if that will be my case..I have completed my MBA from top university in US and I work as full time employee for a US company, hopefully it might help

Yes, crossing border to US is a huge pain as the immigration officers are very slow in work and takes lot of time which Kishan shared in this experience. Better stay in Tijuana and get into US after getting passport.
