rohang
hi, I am currently on L1B visa, expiring soon, and my company is applying for H1b, before my L1B expires. I will want to ask a question about applying for L1A visa, when I asked my companies laywer he said its not possible as I dont have managerial experience outside US. I have 8.5 yr experience, last 6.5 years outside India (last 5 years in USA), My current profile fits L1A, and I am doing it for last couple of years. But never performed managerial work in India. Is it possible to apply for L1A? Thanks in Advance. Link to comment
Attorney_23
Your company's lawyer is misinformed. A foreign national who worked in a specialized knowledge abroad is qualified to work in an L1A capacity for that employer in the U.S. Link to comment
rohang
Thanks for a quick reply. Just for my reconfirmation -> Even if, only managerial experience (multi-year) that I have is in USA (under L1B), and not in India, I can still apply for L1A. Link to comment

Yes, if you worked in a specialized knowledge capacity abroad for 1 year, you could apply to work as a manager (L1A) in the United States. Link to comment
