Difference between the Prevailing wage for PERM and the current wage?

Hello, my PERM may be filed for a future position that is more than 50%(may be 100%) different than my current H1Bposition with the same company.

I am just wondering, that the prevailing wage determined at the time of PERM may be significantly higher than my current wage. So does that mean that the employer has to raise my current wage to that level now

or do they have to pay at the PWD rate only after I receive the I-485 approval?

I am not aware of the PWD rules and my employer is very small, filing a GC case for the first time, so they also don't have much idea and the attorney also doesn't seem too experienced and the timing of the requirement to pay PERM PW can affect my job at this place.

So, any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
