OPT Pending...H1B approved

Hi,

Please advise on my situation as I couldn't find a correct answer anywhere,

I recently applied for STEM extension(17 month OPT) and it is still pending.My first OPT was completed 3 days back. My employer also filed H1 and it was approved a week ago.But as the start date is from OCT 1.

1. Now what if my OPT gets denied, Can I be able to Live in US until OCT1.

2.Can I withdraw my OPT application and request for CAP-GAP i20 and work until OCT 1.

3.What is the best way to work until OCT1

Could you please suggest me the best possible thing which I can do to maintain a legal status.

I am not 100% sure, but if you OPT for 2nd option, all you need is an I20 from your university and give it to your employer ?
