H1B approved but need to transfer before it is starting

Hi all,

I am into a strange situation lost my full time job 2 weeks ago and with this company I have a H1 visa which is starting from 5/1/2012 and right now I am on OPT, the present company said they would run a pay roll until may 4th so that I can transfer my Visa instead of applying new H1.

Now my question if I get a job before April 30th what steps should I take so that I will not loose the H1 and transfer it safely as well start working with new client.

Can I work on OPT in two different companies should my pay roll be run in just 20hrs in the old company and 20hrs in new comapny?

Any help is appreciable I am very confused.
