Change of Status

Hi,

I am working on H1. My employer had some issue and had some lay off in the company. To be at safer side I applied for Change of Status to B2 which got approved last month. Can I still work on H1 with my current employer and not go to B2.

What will happen to my approval of change of status to B2.

Will it be expired after some time? Will it give any issue on my green card processing in future. What in future if something happens to my current company, can I use this Approval of CoS and come to B2 that time?

If you are currently in B2 status, you cannot work. You can only do visitor like activities and depart the US or change status before the expiry date of B2 status (mentioned on the approval notice)

With the COS approvel, you are no longer on H1, and you can not work.

You would have to leave the country and reenter with the H1 visa, or your employer would have to file a COS back to H1. Until then, you can not work.
