njb83
Hello Seniors/Friends, I am not H1B.I need your advice for tax filling. I heard that some agents do itemize deduction in tax filling by showing expenses ( false info) even actually those expenses are not applicable for itemize deduction to get more refund. Is it advisable ? I am not sure about all this tax loop holes , so I am seeking your advice. If audit comes in future and result in penalty , then will it affect H1B visa approval/extension in future even penalty paid to IRS and case settled ? Do IRS or USCIS handle matter separate? Will audit/penalty affect Green card process ? Thank you very much for all your help and advice. Link to comment
JoeF
Do not lie on a tax return. IRS has much much stronger penalties and enforcement than CIS. Link to comment

JoeF
Thanks JoeF. People usually go with Agent. Not sure how they manage. I am not quite sure what you mean with "agent." There are CPAs, Certified Public Accountants. These are professionals. They will of course try to minimize your taxes, but all within the law. For standard, uncomplicated tax returns, things can nowadays be done online for free. The big tax software vendors offer that. Or, you can buy tax software for 30-40 dollars, and do your taxes on your computer. Of course, you can also file paper tax returns for free if you do it yourself. The forms are available in post offices. Link to comment
