17 month OPT STEM extension--> H1B

Hello,

I am currently on my 17 month OPT STEM extension and working for an e-verified employer. I got another offer from a company who are not e-verified but they are willing to sponsor my H1B visa. My joining date is on April 3rd, 2012. I was wondering if they need to be enrolled in E-verify system before I start working for them or another option is if I file for H1B visa as soon as I join them, would I still be able to work for them starting April 3rd? Please advice.
