New H1 - SSN

I recently got my H1 approved. I am yet to receive I-797 from my employer.

Meanwhile, I am getting all other documents ready to apply for SSN.

Do I need any letter from my eployer to apply for SSN other than 797?

All you need is the I-94 that came with the approval notice.

And, btw, you can work and get paid while the SSN application is pending.
