bluntman
Hello, I filed an I-130 for my wife. Since I am a permanent resident ( not a US citizen ) she falls in the F2A category. Based on the Visa bulletin, it seems that in order for the priority date to be current, it will take 2.5 years. I also went to the USCIS case processing time webpage ( the same page we can enter the receipt number to get the status on our case ), processing time for I130->permanent resident filing for a spouse->california is estimated at 7 months. My question is, what's the difference between the priority date becoming current AND the processing time ? Would she get her GC in 7 month or 2.5 years ? Thank you Link to comment
Attorney_22
The processing period of seven months on the USCIS website relates to petitions with “current” priority dates. In essence, it is a two step waiting process: First, wait for the priority date to be current; Second, wait for USCIS to adjudicate the petition. If you have additional questions, please contact a qualified U.S. immigration attorney. Link to comment
