Job for h4 visa

Hi Admin,

I really want to know about my work status. My husband is H1B holder under green card process. He got his I 140 approval last year. and he has been working for the past 6 years.

Heard there is a new bill which allows h4 dependent to work. Kindly tell me about that and also about my work staus.

I am not an admin, but am familiar with this subject.

There have been no changes to the relevant regulations. Dependents on a H-4 visa cannot work (regardless of the H-1B visa holder's I-140 approval status or how many years they have had their visa.)

There is a proposed DHS rule change to allow spouses on H-4 visas to work based on the H-1B holder’s I-140 approval and how many years had their visa. This proposed rule change has been around on and off for over a year without any movement. There are a number of steps that the proposed rule has to go through before it would be implemented and take effect.

Hopefully, we will see some concerted lobbying to get this rule implemented, but right now there is nothing for H-4 visa holders.
