regd return to India after 6 years of H1-B

Hello All,

I will be completing 6 years of my H1-B in a month. I need to go back to India before this. Is the Company entitled to provide me the return flight Ticket to India. ( Please note I am not terminated by the Company but because my H1 Term is getting over I need to leave to India. )

Can someone please reply.

The company is not required to pay anything.

The company would only be required to pay for your return flight if you get laid off before the H1 expiration.

It depends on what company you work for. Generally, if they have to send you back after your contract is over or for whatever reason, they give you a ticket. Also, if you have come on a long term assignment and never gone to India on your company ticket, they may get you a return ticket ONCE.

Of course, company policy can be more generous. I was describing the requirements per the law.

Thanks to both of you. I will try and ask them to book the return Ticket for me to India. Since I worked for more than 5 years for the same company, it may work out as mentioned by sc29. But if they refuse I have to accept as they are not required to provide me .
