H1b 7th year extension

I have filed my PERM on 15th Dec 2011. My H1 is in 6th year and 3/29/2012 is the last day(All the unused H1 time has been already re-captured). I see I am really on the edge here and may need to leave country if I don't get my perm asap. I was reading an article on your site about extending H1 beyond 6th year.

If I look at my case and the recent perm trend, it seem it may fall in the category where I would get my PERM just after my H1 expiry. Given this scenario, you mentioned if I leave at the end of my H1, I can still be eligible to get further H1 extensions once PERM/I140 is approved.

Considering this, when should I be leaving US, do I need to leave US say one week before H1 expiration so I do not completely exhaust my H1 or I would be eligible for further extensions even if I leave by 3/29 when my H1 completely exhausts.

Additional info - I am working as consultant thru small desi firm, I may be able to work from India for 3,4 weeks incase I need to leave.
