Can i reapply H1B during COS (from H1 to H4)?

Hi,

I was working for 4 years on H1B. Lost job and My company cancelled my H1B. Before cancelling, i applied for H4. Currently, my application says 'Initial review'.

1. Can you please let me know how long does it take for COS from H1 to H4.

2. Also, meanwhile if i get a job and any company is ready to sponsor H1. Can they do that? or do i have to wait until i get H4?

You can find processing time for COS on USCIS site @ https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do

Depends upon which center you applied ,it may take 2-6 months.
