time to get reciept

1, premium processing

2, normal processing.

Premimum processing : 3 weeks unless there are RFEs

Regular Processing: 4 - 6 months.

I am talking of getting a receipt not getting an approval. My ex employer to whom I am changing my H1 wants to file my I 485 only after he gets the H1 be receipt of filing.

I guess you are asking about just receipt not processing time. Generally receipt will be received just in a week time after applying. For premium cases, most of the times, employer / attorney receives the receipt note by fax. There are few cases where people didn't even receive the receipt. In this case, you can find the receipt number back of the check(Can find it from bank online trx) your employer attched while filing your Visa.

to get receipt of H1B filing

1. Premium processing : first you get email of receipt with number & then you get hard copy by mail in 1 week

2. Regular processing: It takes 1-3 weeks to get receipt notice of H1B filing by mail.

to get approval of H1B.

1. Premium processing: You get approval within 15 days(including sat/sun) if no RFE.

2. Regular processing: takes approximate 2-5 months.

My H1B extension application was filed with USCIS on Feb 15 under normal processing with CSC. I haven't received the receipt numbers till now(over 3 weeks). Has anyone got the receipt number under normal processing recently? If so please let me know the time frame.
