H1b Transfer in my 7th Year

Hello All,

I am on my 7th year of H1b visa and it is valid until 02/28/2014. I got a 3 year extension after 6 years on H1b because I have an approved I-140.

If I decide to change my employer and when they file my H-1b transfer, lets suppose they file on 03/01/2012, is the H-1b going to be valid for another 3 years i.e. until 03/01/2015 or will it be valid based on my current H-1b expiry date i.e. 02/28/2014?

USCIS will issue a new 797 against your new employer. That term could between 1-3 years with max of your current date i.e. 02/28/2014

I have a follow up question to the one asked by aarora3. If the new employer is not willing to sponsor GC and the old employer does not cancel the approved I140, can another 3 year H1B extension be obtained beyond 2/28/2014 based on the approved I140 with the old employer?
