H1B extension options

Hi,

I am in my 5th year of H1 - 6th yr starting on June 23rd as a physician researcher. My I 140 NIW physician waiver was denied. My wife is on her independant H1.

I would like to do a 3 year fellowship in GI. will my application for a J1 be denied based on the earlier NIW application? what if I change status to J1 without exiting the country ? will the NIW still have a negative impact?

What are my options to stay on in the country?

denial of I140 should not have impact on J1. you can speak with school on conversion.,also have a conversation with an attorney (murthy firm charges $250 for 1 hr consultation and it is worth it) on move from from H1 to J1 while staying in the country

converting to H4 and have your wife employer file GC is one option to stay in the country
