Different Situation: Going from Married name to maiden name

Hi,

This question is on behalf of a friend who came to US after getting married, added her married name to her existing maiden name (two last names) in the passport but now wants to go back to her maiden name (she's not getting divorced). Can anyone please enlighten on the procedure of doing this at an Indian Consulate in US? Will it be a smooth process as it was for adding her married name or is it going to be tricky? That after all is her maiden name which is still there in the passport.

Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

It shouldn't be a problem at all. She will need to get a court order than grants her the name change.
