Interview at chennai on Feb 2nd 2012

Hi,

I am in EVC model and like everyone, I crossed my fingers and attended the interview at chennai on Feb 2nd.

Here is how my interview went through.

Me : Good Morning Sir, How are you doing?

VO : Good Morning. So, what do you do?

Me : I am an applications developer.

VO : Who is you employer?

Me : XXX

VO : Who is your client?

Me : YYY

VO: Give me LCA and I 129. (Gave him)

VO: what is ur salary (told him)

VO: what do YYY do

Me: Explained about YYY and gave some details about project.

VO : Give me your client letter and paystubs?

Me : I recently started with XXX and don't have their paystubs

VO : When did you join

Me: My start date is Jan 16th 2012

VO: Then why you are here

Me: I came here because of family emergency.

I handed over my client letter. He read the letter for around a min.

VO: So, you report to A?

(A is the manager who gave my client letter)

Me: No, I report to my supervisor B, who is a fulltime employee of XXX. He works along with me in the same project.

VO : Where does he sits

Me: In the client location, same floor where I sit

VO: Who is A then

Me: He is my manager

Vo: So, how do you report to A

Me: I dont report to A, I report to B

VO : So how A manages then

Me : He manages 6 teams and all the supervisors of individual teams report to him.

VO: Ok, so indirectly report to A.

Me : (I got a little frustrated and told him in a high voice) See, I am no way related to A and I only report to B and he assigns me work everyday. I dont know what happens at the higher level.

He has been looking at my face and looked for around 10 more seconds. Then came the golden words

VO: Ok your visa is approved and you will receive in 7 days.

Me: Thanks a lot sir.

Key points that I observed in getting the stamping

• Know everything about H1 B visa. Imagine yourself as a visa officer and expect the questions.
  
• This is very important - neufeld memo(Employer - employee). Go through it and prepare yourself for all the answers that supports it. This is the key thing in getting my stamping done. Check yourself whether the answers you prepared for employer employee relationship are convincing or not.
  
• Be confident. Whatever you say, stick to it(assuming you said it right and supports your case). Dont let it loose.
  
• Documents preparation - I spent around 1 week for my document preparation
