info_2206
I am working for firm A on L1-B, right now I am in US and another firm B is processing my H1-B visa. Because of personal constraints, I may not be able to join firm B if my H1-B got approved. My questions is 1. Can I do so not joining the firm B though my H1-B got approved? 2. I read on the forum that i have to change my status once H1-B approved , but so many of my friend are still on old status ( L1-B ), i am confused and could not understand what implications of it would be if I remain on L1-B. Attorney_23
Ordinarilly, a change of status takes effect automatically on the effective date noted on the I-797. Link to comment

Attorney_23
You could file another petition to request a change of status back to L1B. Or, you may be able to leave and then reenter with an L1 visa. However, this still would not take you back to H1B status without filing another petition. You may want to schedule a consult with an experienced attorney at this point to determine how best to proceed. Link to comment
