Urgent Help Needed on H1B Transferred visa

I transferred my H1 to another employer past six month back in (Aug) but not able to join that time.I approached the same employer for joining formalities now so they suggested me to update my I-94 by visiting another country to join us.

Can anyone explain why do I need to update my I-94.

If you received a new I-94 card when the petition was approved six months ago and your prior I-94 card covered the period of time you were still employed with Company A, you should not need to go through consular processing. You should have an immigration attorney review your history to confirm you are maintaining nonimmigrant status.
