Green card for Research Assistant in an university.

I completed my MS from a US university in May, 2011. Right now I am working as a Research Assistant in a research lab in a University on a H1B visa. My employee is ready to sponser my green card application, but I am not sure what is the best way to go ahead with this. My H1B visa just started. I have a MS from India also. During my studies, I have published a couple of papers in scientific journals.

Is there a way I can apply under EB2 for green card? How long normally it takes for my kind of an application.

Good universities usually have people in the International office who handle H1 and GC applications for staff and faculty. I suggest you discuss your situation with them.
