user_12345
Do I need to stay with my employer for atleast an year after the approval of my I-485? Link to comment
Attorney_6
We have information on this topic on Murthy.Com. There is no specific law or regulation stating that a person must work for X amount of time after getting the GC. But, the GC is issued based upon the future job offer---to become effective on the date of GC approval. So, the expectation is that work will continue for a reasonable time----consistant with the intent to accept the permanent job offer upon GC approval. The general rule is that a year is best, but that 6 months is kind of a minimum that makes it unlikely that fraud will be suspected. This is normally an issue that arises at naturalization.
