H1b Labor filing to initiate GC process with out h1b amendment

Hello All,

I am on h1b visa from Oct 2011 (Just 2 months). I got my h1b visa with Client A and the project was done. I was able to find the project B immediately and I didn't go for amendment yet. Now that If I plan to start my GC process by filing labor first. Do I have to do h1b amendment first and then do the labor process ?

What exactly is h1b amendment? Where does it affect me?
