Green Card holders divorcing in India

Hello All,

My wife and I are both US Green Card Holders for the last 2 months. I applied in EB2 and she as a derivative.

I have a 4 month old daughter who is a US citizen. We live in St Louis, MO and are currently visiting India.

We have decided to get a divorce in India according to Muslim Sharia Law and then in the court here in India. (so I will have a divorce certificate from India)

My wife most probably will not return to US.

1. Can someone please advise me about my next steps and how my green card status would be affected as a reult of a divorce ?

2. We were married in India and if we divorce in India will we have to follow US laws of divorce and custody as our child is a US citizen ?

Kindly guide me in the right direction. I am in India right now and would also appreciate if I could talk to an attorney from Murthy law firm from here. Please suggest.
