ruben1
Hi, I am currently working in an organisation "A " with L1-A visa. This is my 6th Year in US with the L1-A visa. I was placed as a sub-contract to do work with client " B". Now "B" is willing to offer me a job. Can company "B" do green card for me and take me as their employee? or Should company "B" file H1B and then file green card? I am looking for your guidance. Please help. Link to comment
Attorney_23
In general, a green card application is for future employment. Therefore, a company you do not currently work for can ordinarily file a green card application on your behalf, whether or not they also sponsor you for a nonimmigrant visa. That being said, have you received permission from USCIS to perform work as a sub-contractor? You should consult with an experienced attorney to ensure you are not violating your status.
