H1 B renewal after getting EAD /AP combo card

Hi,

I have already obtained EAD/ AP combo card in Oct 2011 (EB -1B category). I -485 is still in processing stage (applied in Aug 2011). My H1B expires in May 2012. Do I have to renew my H1 B just to be on the safe side, or should I just use EAD card after May 2012.

You can go either way. Pending I-485 does not provide status, but H1 does. If you absolutely needs status, you should extend H1.
