ram_uppara
You can go to interview any consulate in india, no restrictions. but still you have to specify the correct residency. If they ask any proof then what you will do? My wife from Andhra Pradesh attended interview at chennai and got VISA yesturday with out any problem. Link to comment
miz16
Hi, My wife also had same question, she is also from AP. She came to India after staying ~ 3 years in US. Since she is in US more than 6 months, we selected An Indian resident residing in US. When we made the H4 appointment, in the confirmation says 'Resident of Tamilnadu'. I think it is a default state when you select Chennai. If your are applying H4 first time, and if you stayed in AP atleast for the last 6 months, then select state of residency 'AP'. You can attend anywhere in India. Thanks! Link to comment

rrr2008
Hi Miz16, What happened with H4 visa stamping. Can you please let me know. I am also in the similar situation like you. Thanks. Link to comment
rrr2008
Miz16, We tried to select the option, An indian citizen resident in usa, but on the interview letter, we are getting, have you rejected twice in last 12 months as No. But our F1 visa is rejected twice, so we selected the option as A resident of india/bhutan. I remember you saying that, you wife F1 visa is rejected twice in other topic. Link to comment
