H4 stamping, spouse's H1 not stamped

Hi! All,

I am planning to go to India for H4 stamping. My husband finished his 6 years on H1 and just got a 3 year extension (valid until 2014). He does not have H1 visa stamped on his passport. His employment model is EC.

Given our situation is it advisable to go to India and appear for H4 stamping.

Please share your suggestions and advices.
