H-1B filing on Nov 8 - still no receipt or approval

Lawyer filed on Nov 8, 2011 to Vermont Service Center.

As per my lawyer - No receipt, no RFE, no approval or denial so far. Changing from H-4 to H-1.

My company lawyer does not communicate as to what/why/how.

Can I hire my own lawyer to talk to USCIS to ask about case status? Is it possible/allowed?

No need to go with other Lawyer, it is always better to go with existing lawyer who filed the case... please check if they have LCA got approved first, then only one can file for H1b..and ask for FedEx receipt at least...

Ask your employer to CALL USCIS - They can give all the updates to the employer - They need to be ready with courier tracking number and few other basic information.

i already told my lawyer...... he already call USCIS.... but they told to my lawyer ... we have to track your file ... my lawyer called 4days before .but still not replay from .... USCIS .... I checked my tracking number .....USCIS received my file on 11/18/2011 .... and i have premium process ... my lawyer told me ..they didnt cash our D.D ............. i am very wary about my application ..... please someone help me .... its possible my file cover still stayed in mail room ... they forget to send in cash office ...... please help me ...... thanks alot in advance !!!!!!!!!!!!! jsk

Hello Pranav,

I'm in the same boat... my application for Premium Processing H1 extension was sent on 12/7. We did not receive Reciept Number untill yesterday, so my lawyer called them today, they told the same thing... they will need to track my application..... nothing else yet..

Was ur application first time h1 or renewal ? which service center did it go to ?

any other update form your side?
