USCIS issues 3 yrs of H1B visa instead of 1 year

My 6 yrs of H1B will expire on Dec 2012. Changed employer in November and they filed for transfer and asked for 3 yrs instead of 1 yr. USCIS has issued H1B Visa till Dec 2014 which is against H1B provisions (as I will then have H1B for 9 yrs). I contacted my employer and they told me, that they have spoken to the immigration lawyer who confirmed that I am set in gold, there is no need to contact USCIS and get it corrected. I am very perplexed as I sincerely feel, that USCIS should be contated and they should issue me a new I-94 with end date of Dec 2012. I am sure, I will be stuck in my home country when I will go for the H1B stamping.

They sometimes make mistakes.

You should not try to benefit from it, because they eventually will find out and if you stay past the 6 years, you would end up being illegal retroactively.

what is your first entry date to US and the total time spent in US for the last 6 years... and have you spent more than a year outside US at a strech...
