H4 application in Canada

I am currently in US on H1 visa. I plan to change to H4. Rather than applying from CoS, I plan to go to Canada to apply for H4 and enter US on H4. My understanding is that this will be much faster than CoS. My H1 stamp has expired and I have a new i-94 valid for next 2 years.

I have following questions:

  1. If anyone has done the same, can you please share your experience?
  2. While leaving US to enter Canada, will I have to handover the I94 considering that I’m going for visa stamping?
  3. If the answer to (b) is yes, in case the visa does get rejected, can I not reenter US? Will I be forced to fly to my home country (India)?
  4. What are the common causes of rejection of H4? Is there anything we can do to mitigate this risk? (e.g. carry any particular documents)
  5. There are lot of resources that describe the process and documentation of H4 application in India. Can we just follow this while applying in Canada? Can you point to any resources that are specific to applying for H4 in Canada?
