I want to share my experience of H1b(myself) and H4(my wife) visa stamping at Mumbai with hope that it will be helpful to others visiting this forum.

Background: Working in Marketing for a firm since last 3+ years; this is my 7th year with I 140 approved. I have a child who was born in the US. This was my third stamping (Mumbai, Toronto, Mumbai) with as many companies. I have post graduate degress from the US.

Booked apointment on Nov. 3rd.

Apointment date: Nov. 8th @ 10:30am.

We reached the consulate at 10am. They took us in right away.

After security check in we stood in the line for finger printing.

At 10:30am it was done and we were waiting for our token # to be called.

They called us little after 11:00am at a window.

I: Good morning. How are you?

vo: Good.

vo: When were you married?

I: mm/yyyy

vo: You have a child who was born in the US?

I: Yes, a xxxx, xx old.

vo: where is the child?

I: outside with my sister in the car.

vo: Where was she born?

I: city name

vo: I am from a nearby town.

I: really? where?

vo: city name

vo: Which company do you work for?

I: company name

vo: how many employees work for this company?

I: xxxxx after we acquired a firm 3 months back.

vo: what do you do for them?

I: blah blah blah

vo: How much is your salary?

I: $xxxx

vo: Since when do you work for this company?

I: mm/yyyy

vo: what is (my previous company name)?

I: it is my previous company before I joined my current firm

vo: why did you join the current firm

I: they offered me a very good position

vo to my wife: do you intend to work in the US?

my wife: no

vo: where do you guys live in the US?

I: city name

vo: do you work at your client location or at the company headquarters?

I: at the headquarters

vo: do you have an older passport?

I: yes

vo: do you have it?

I: no, I dont have it right now. it's in my car outside. sorry.

vo: dont worry about it.

vo: ok, your visas are approved. you will get your passports in 5 days.

I: thank you, have a great day.

The interview lasted for about 3-4 minutes. He was typing the whole time. He did not ask to see a single document.

We were out by 11:15am.

note: there were many kids insided the consulate building. i also saw bottles/baby food so they allow it in. if you have a child born in the US, they will allow them in with US passports even if they dont need visa.
