URGENT - Do I need Visa Stamping in my case?

Hello,

I am working for my employer since March 2009 firstly on my OPT with my H1B started on Oct 2009. I got my H1B stamped in Jan 2010. I changed job within company in March 2010. As I am going to india on Dec 9,2011 I requested them to file for my amendment. They file my amendment and extension together in October 2011.

My company's lawyer told me I need to go for visa stamping when I go back to india.

(1) What if they don't approve my extension as I am filing early? Do I still need to go for stamping because of amendment?

(2) What if I dont get all documents on time? Can I go and come back from India without stamping as I have H1B valid till Oct 2012 with same employer just based on my older job? But still I will have documents showing that they have filed for extension and amendment?

I will appreciate quick response. Is there anything I need to do except pushing to get my documents for visa stamping.
