L1 to H1 COS - Urgent Help Needed!

Could you kindly provide your valuable guidance on my case below? Many Thanks.

I came to United States in 2008 on L1 Blanket visa. This visa expired on 11 March, 2011 but I-94 is valid till 3 November, 2011. My employer applied for L1 extension and received RFE on 21 July, 2011. The RFE due date is October 16, 2011. We have not responded to RFE yet.

After receiving above mentioned RFE, my employer applied L1 to H1 conversion with change of status. This was approved on 23 September, 2011. I have received the I-797A approval notice along with attached I-94 valid from October 1, 2011 till December 31, 2012.

Now, if my employer does not withdraw the L1 extension RFE and does not respond to it either, it would lead to denial of L1 extension. In that case,

a. Would my approved H1 petition get affected?

b. Would my current H1 status get affected? Would I be able to continue to stay and work?

On the other hand, if my employer does withdraw the L1 extension petition, there would not be any impacts. Is that correct?
