H4 Stamping in Ottawa, Canada - Go or No Go? Please Help

Hello,

My L1B visa expired in Aug this year. Since my spouse is a H1B holder, I filed for a I539 Change of Status to H4. (note: My spouse's H1B is not stamped yet since it was a change of status)

I was hoping to get my H4 approval notice by now. Unfortunately, its been over 4.5 months and I haven't got the H4 approval notice (my case is being processed at Vermont Service Center)

I now have a job offer - the employer requires me to present my H4 so that they can apply for a change of status to H1B

My spouse and I are planning to travel to Ottawa to get our stampings done. This way, my spouse gets H1B stamped and I get my H4.

My question - will there be any problems with this approach? Especially since both our our visas are expired, though my spouse has a valid H1b petition and I94.
