Urgent Question on H1-B Transfer

Hello:

I work for Company A and I am in my 6th year of H1-B.My I-140 is approved (on aug 2011) and I already got my 3 years extension till 2014. I am planning on changing jobs to a Company B. Is it possible for me to do that? Please help me with this issue, it is kind of an emergency...my department is not doing good and they did quite bit of lay-off ... I just want to have option and would like to look for a new job and move on....

Few ppl say i should wait for 6 months after I-140 approval to transfer H1-B. I don't know if that's true or if there is a way to transfer my H1-B.

Please advice.
