Applied for 485/EAD/AP in July 2011 but received EAD only for 1 year

I recently applied for 485/EAD/AP in EB2 category in July 2011. EAD and AP was approved last week and my wife received EAD only for 1 year. I understand that after my 485 is approved and i receive the GC, EAD will be void. However i would like to get some thoughts from experts on why i was issed EAD for only 1 year. I've heard that we normally receive EAD for 2 years.

Is it becuase my priority date is current, hence i received EAD for 1 year ?

That should be no issues. It means either your 485 will be approved before 1 year or your next EAD is likely to have a two year renewal.

When the EAD card is valid for 1 year most of time means, your Visa number is available and priority date is current, sometime ago when you had chance to apply before your pd wasn't current or for some reason your pd back to not current they give a EAD valid for two years.

my wife applied her EAD and AP on July 1st and got EAD+AP combo card for 1 year only.

our priority date is current since july 1st 2011

Just curious when your wife apply her EAD/AP? I and my wife applied the same on July 25th and we are yet to receive EAD / AP.

It takes @2months...you should receive the approval anytime...

My Wife received her EAD for one year and AP. I received only AP, no update on my EAD yet.

Not yet, waiting for 485 approval. Based on the processing time, i think it takes @4 months, hence i am expecting to get approval in Nov 2011

However we received our EAD and AP card.

did you & your wife EAD came at the same time or different time? if its different time, what was the difference? my wife got her EAD (nearly 2 weeks back) however I have not got my EAD yet. Thanks for your response!

Both (my wife & myself) received EAD back to back. Though my wife's EAD came 1 day before my EAD.

Thanks Trymyluck. I got the notification on friday that my card is mailed. Keep us updated when you get your 485 approval. I will wait for my application approval as well. I dont know the PD makes any preference from now still just curious, what is your PD?
