Our GC got approved (including my son). Can he use AP while entering back to USA? or Can we use Green Card ? He was not in USA when GC was approved. Please advise. Link to comment
Joe.F
You can board the plane with the AP. At the POE, you need to advise the officer that your GC got approved while you were abroad. The officer will then guide you to secondary inspection, where you will either get deferred inspection or get an I-551 stamp (GC stamp) in your passport. Link to comment
suresh_nj
Thanks JoeF. But What is deferred inspection ? Can you please explain ? Thanks. Link to comment
SameerH1Bworker
Suresh, deferred inspection/process means, at POE immigration officer will ask you to come back with your Green Card. They will allow to enter in US but you need to go back to CBP to show your Green Card. Its not that complex process, don't worry. Its normal and happens with many people. Link to comment
