Hello everyone,

Here is my H-1B visa interview experience

Interview date: Aug 9, 2011

Employment type: I am a direct full time employee(FTE). The company is a big cable/internet services company with over 90k+ employees in the US

H1B Visa Type: Renewal

This is my 2nd H-1B visa stamp. I got my first one in 2007(different/small employer: Also direct FTE). I also have a US masters & an approved I-140(EB3)

Here is how my interview went:

VO: Good morning

Me: Good morning Mam

Gave my file

VO:Where do you work ?

Me:Told my company name

VO:Have you been to the US?

Me:Yes Mam, I have

VO:What do you do for the company?

Me:Briefly described my job

VO:What is your salary?

Me:Told my yearly salary

VO:Where in US are you going to?

Me:Told city name, state name

VO:How long have you been working for this company?

Me:I have been working for this company since MM/YYYY

The VO flipped through my passport..

VO:When did you come to India?

Me:Two days back

VO:Can I see some recent pay stubs?

Me:Sure

I gave all my pay stubs for 2011 (Jan - July)

Me: My pay stubs starting Jan 2011

VO: Oh..thank you

Looked through my pay stubs quickly.

VO:Your visa is approved. You will receive your passport within a week

Me: Thank you

The interview was pretty straight forward and lasted about 2-3 minutes. While I was waiting in line for my interview I noticed one EVC type candidate successfully getting his visa(different VO). I know it was EVC because I heard questions like who is your client? any vendor ? client contract etc.

Also, one other guy got a form(I think 221g). The only thing I heard was the VO asked for his LCA and then after a few questions(I couldn't hear), he handed him a form. Couldn't tell if he was direct FTE or EVC type.

I got my visa stamped passport in 2 days(Aug 11 evening)

Let me know if you have any questions

Good luck

Thanks
